Kendall Short is one of the many reasons why Mill Valley will be considered the early favorites in the Kaw Valley League in 2012.

Now, Short has a home for the next level - and it's a Division 1 school.

The running back committed to Northern Illinois on Friday.

Short ran for 691 yards last year, averaging 5.53 yards a carry. He found the end-zone 6 times last year for the 7-3 Jaguars.

In Mill Valley's strong passing attack, Short had 8 receptions last year for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The 6'3", 215-pound running back was a work-horse, earning four 100-yard games.

Against Bonner Springs, Short had 276 all-purpose yards and 3 touchdowns.
