Basehor thumps Bishop Ward behind rushing attack, touchdowns from Garver

If Basehor-Linwood is to repeat as Kaw Valley League champions in 2012, they need to do what they did against Bishop Ward.

Of course, opponent strength will change - but rushing the ball for 400 yards will win just about any game.

Drew Potter had 170 yards on just eight carries as Basehor-Linwood shutout Bishop Ward 56-0 at Basehor-Linwood High School Friday night.

Potter had two touchdowns in the game, including a 55-yard romp early in the third quarter.

Senior Tanner Garver also had his share of the scoreboard fun.

His 17-yard touchdown run extended Basehor's lead to 16-0. Garver would hit Ben Johnson with two touchdown passes - a 37-yard score and a 28-yard touchdown.

Garver's first touchdown pass came on his first pass of the season and his second touchdown helped Basehor take a 43-0 lead.

If Garver, Johnson and Potter weren't enough, two more Bobcats scored.

Paul Rehm scored to push Basehor at the half-century mark and freshman Jahron McPherson scored his first ever touchdown - a 14-yard touchdown.

Basehor-Linwood takes on Piper in what looks to be a great Kaw Valley League showdown.
