Brendon Kasselman Scholarship Fund

by David Brox, davidbrox@shukc.com

Brendon Kasselman was the son of Lew and Linda Kasselman.

Lew was the head football coach for BSHS from 1996 to 2011 and the PE teacher at BSHS. Linda was the secretary at the High School until 2011. Lew was the coach before Coach Aslin. Their son died of Cancer around nine weeks ago. He worked at the YMCA and was a fire fighter.

They had two sons that both graduated from BSHS. Blake is seen in the picture behind his father. They both also played football at BSHS.

They are loved by the community of Bonner Springs.

A note from Dawn Jackson who helped coordinate the effort.

The Bonner Springs Football team and I would like to thank everyone involved in supporting the Brendon Kasselman Scholarship Fund. There are so many people to thank for helping make this into so much more than I had ever hoped it would be. The Fire Department, YMCA, Methodist Church, students and staff bought/sold t-shirts to support the fund. I received a call from KCB Bank that donated over $2500.00 to help with the cost of the t-shirts to show its support for the family. The Fire Department had over $1300.00 for the family and decided to add this to the fund. Then the football team was able to raise $4000.00 from the t-shirts and donations made. As of today we have $5300.00 that have been raised. The YMCA will also be adding to this amounts with donations made to the family through the YMCA. Atmos Energy and Twister along with the Booster Club helped donated food for the tailgate last night. The Bonner Springs Community and Bonner Springs High School cares and shows such compassion for others. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
