PIPER 38, Atchison 6

The Piper Pirates wasted no time in establishing themselves as the favorites to move out of this district.

Piper flipped the script following last week's blow out at Mill Valley. They jumped out to a big lead and its defense forced a lot of turnovers.

Dalton Hays had two interceptions for the Pirates, while Matt McDonald and Colton Beebe each added one interception to the turnover pile.

Offensively, it was the Piper rushing game that did the bulk of the work. McDonald had 64 yards on 10 carries, including two touchdowns. Colton Beebe had 8 carries for 38 yards. Overall, Piper finished with 189 rushing yards in the game.

Dion Saunders, Sean Eskina and Keaton Cofield also scored touchdowns for the Pirates.

Eskina's touchdown came on a pass from Tanner Eikenbary from 55 yards out.

With the win, Piper improves to 5-2 on the season. Atchison drops to 4-3.

SUMNER ACADEMY 26, Bishop Ward 12

Sumner Academy won its second game in a row, improving to 2-5 on the season and sending Bishop Ward to an 0-7 record.

I do not have stats on this game yet, but when I do, I'll post them.
