Game Highlights and District Overview - Turner

by David Brox, davidbrox@shukc.com

The Turner Bears are peeking at the right time to say the least.  They head into district play with 4 straight victories.  Their most recent win Friday against Tonganoxie 32 - 13 has to have their district opponents ready to pull their hair out.

I said myself last week that the Bears looked 1 dimensional with their offense.  I simply described it by saying it wasn't pretty but effective.  Well they found some windex in Turner and shined up the offense real nice to the tune of 24 for 26 and 228 yards through the air.

Paul Berry put on another show this time through the air.  4 TD's overall and 298 total yards.  The young man now has 1189 total yards and has accounted for 16 TD's.

Turners district is a bit of a mixed bag.  Turner enters the district with Harmon, Aquinas, and Miege with a bit of optimism.  I know your immediate thought is that Turner is in trouble but looks are deceiving.  Bishop Miege has name recognition but has struggled this season with a 2-4 record.  We know full well about the struggles of Harmon.  Aquinas took their first loss of the season last week against Blue Valley so they appear to have a nice team.

You can look no further than this week for Turner in their playoff hopes.  If they can secure a win this week against Miege, (I know the coaches won't but) I will pencil the Bears into the playoffs.
