HIGHLIGHTS: Lansing's Roy Clayter

If there was a preseason award for the Kaw Valley League's Newcomer of the Year, odds are Lansing's Roy Clayter would be right up there among the nominees.

Clayter transferred to Lansing after three years playing at North Kansas City High School in Kansas City, Mo.

While North Kansas City struggled record-wise, the 6'4" athletic forward was the brightest spot for a team that finished 4-20 last year. He averaged 15.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.7 steals a game last season.

Based on his individual success, he should give Lansing an opportunity to make their third consecutive state tournament in Kansas 5A and to reclaim the Kaw Valley League crown from the Basehor-Linwood Bobcats.

Lansing's finished in the top four at state the past two seasons and expectations are high again. The Kansas Basketball Coaches poll has placed the Lions #4 in its 2012 Kansas 5A boys preseason poll.

Below are highlights of Clayter, who should help the Lions offset the loss of Izaiah Grice, the team's leading scorer from last year.
