Area grapplers fare well in Topeka

Three area schools participated in the Melvin Douglas Classic this past weekend at Topeka Highland Park.

Schlagle, led by 285lb champion Trevon Wallace and runner up performances by Johnny Her in the 120lb weight class, Daniel Roger at 152, and Jamez Turner led the team to a 3rd place finish.

Josh Strammel won the 113lb weight class by fall and teammate Austin Mullikan finished second for Wyandotte who finished in 5th place just ahead of 6th place Washington.

The Wildcats were anchored by 220lb champion Isaiah Smith who won the championship match by at 16-5 major decision against Wyandotte’s Ghyeth Fahdil who gets second.
