A 41-point win is probably one of the best ways imaginable to begin a coaching stint with a team.

In first-year head coach Dan Streit's first game, Bonner Springs hammered Heritage Christian Academy 77-36 in the opening round of the 2012 Panther Invitational in Paola, Kan.

Two new faces in the lineup helped Bonner Springs give the new head coach his first win as the Braves varsity head coach.

Senior Austin Twombly scored a game-high 21 points to lead the way for Bonner Springs, while Jason VanMaren added 14 points.

Jordan Jackson, who was the leading scorer among returning players from last year's team, had eight points in Bonner Springs' easy victory.

Bonner Springs opened the game with hot shooting and really never cooled off.

They led 21-11 after one quarter and continued to pour it on from there. They took a 42-19 halftime lead after Travis Dooley drained a three-pointer at the buzzer. After three, Bonner led 60-27.

Bonner Springs takes on the winner of the Eudora-Bishop Ward game in the second round of the Panther Invitational.
