OTHER RESULTS: Lansing defeats Mill Valley; Chieftains erase 13-point deficit against Ward to win

LANSING 60, Mill Valley 55 - Mill Valley could not quite overcome a 19-point deficit in a showdown of two of the best teams in the Kaw Valley League.

Lansing improved to 7-0 heading into the Christmas break with the win. Zach Jackson led the way for Lansing with 15 points, while Lucas Mein and Clay Young each finished with 12 points.

Leading the way for Mill Valley was Nathan Stacy, who scored a game-high 24 points. Brett Hamilton added 21 points for the Jaguars.

Lansing built a 42-23 lead, but the Jaguars cut the lead down to 10 points by the end of the third quarter. Mill Valley would come as close as five points, but that's it.

The Lions win sets up an interesting game on January 8th, as Lansing travels to take on the 6-1 Piper Pirates.

It's Mill Valley's second loss - first in the Kaw Valley League. Lansing and Basehor-Linwood remain the only two undefeated teams inside the KVL.


Tonganoxie 61, BISHOP WARD 51 - Evan Brull's 15 points were not enough as the Bishop Ward Cyclones lost a 13-point halftime lead after Tonganoxie exploded for 44 second-half points.

Cole Henley added 11 points for Bishop Ward in the loss.

For Tonganoxie, Jack Dale led the way with 17 points. It's Tonganoxie's first win of the season.

Bishop Ward remains winless in the Kaw Valley League.


SUMNER ACADEMY 61, Lincoln Prep 60 - Alex Garvin led Sumner Academy with 19 points in the game, while Jowell Daniels added 16 points for the Sabres.

Deon Tripp scored 10 points in the game, while freshman Derrick Sykes had 8 points.
