J'Veyon Browning Interview

by David Brox, davidbrox@shukc.com

I am a huge J'Veyon Browning fan.  The kid is "hongry" and is seriously taking no day off this summer.  At the end of last season I wondered if he would be able to duplicate what he did this year and now those thoughts have turned into how much better he will be.

I got to grab him after the workouts today to ask him about his summer and how the team is looking for the upcoming season.

Tanner Garver Interview

by David Brox, davidbrox@shukc.com

I get a rare opportunity to participate in workouts with some of the best players in KCK.  I don't sit and watch (all the time) as I get to run some routes and throw some passes as well.  I decided to start capturing some interviews with the players so our readers can hear from the players first hand.

We will start with Tanner Garver who I asked about his work over this summer and his thoughts on the upcoming season for the Basehor-Linwood Bobcats.

Justin Richmond Joins KCK Preps Workouts

by David Brox, davidbrox@shukc.com

These young men went to work this morning thanks to Austin Bennett and Justin Richmond.  Bennett still focuses on the core abilities of the skill position players but this week we introduced speed and agility training with Richmond.  We had an impressive group of young men that accepted the challenge this morning.  KCK players included Tyler Stanley (Harmon), Brandon Wood (Harmon), Tanner Garver (Basehor), Brian Cobbins (Sumner), Jordan Jackson (Bonner), Stevie Williams (Butler CC), Armand Brisbane (Benedictine), and J'Veyon Browning (Schlagle).

I am truly humbled by the response we are getting to these workouts and encourage anyone that has the desire to come out and exhaust themselves to reach out.  Adding Richmond to the mix allows me to offer something to the rest of the positions in football.  You can be a lineman on either side of the ball and benefit from the work Justin is doing.  A mix of cone drills, ladders, and plyometric work really develops your core, speed, agility and flexibility.

The schedule for this week will be adjusted because Bennett will be unavailable Saturday.

Tuesday evening Justin will be hosting a session at 6:30 PM at Bonner Springs.  Please understand this is a speed, agility and conditioning type workout.  Waiver and $10 and please bring cleats and plenty to drink as you are going to be working hard.

Sunday 6:30 PM at Bonner Springs, Austin will host and hopefully Vernon Vaughn will be back in town to workout.  Waiver and $15 and again please bring cleats and plenty to drink.

Check out the footage I got from this mornings workout and you will see why I am excited about this element of the workouts.
